So what comes to mind when you hear the words whore, hooker, escort, cortesan, companion? Do you reactly more negatively to one over another? Everyone's first impressions vary, understandably, to each of them. What's yours?
Well, words do carry lots of different meanings for different people. I'd say "hooker" has the most negative connotation for me as it evokes images of crack-head streetwalkers with whom I could never imagine having sex. "Whore" could have similar weight, but popular culture has elevated this word in recent years so it seems much less negative to me. The others all sound perfectly fine to me.
